Offensive Positions
The offense is the part of a team which focus
is on scoring points to win the football game.
There are 11 players on Offense and 11 players
on Defense.
There must be 7 players on the line of scrimmage
(the line where the football is from sideline to sideline) and
4 players in the backfield (behind the line of scrimmage).

Here is a brief description of the positions:
Center
–
Snaps
the ball to the Quarterback, calls the huddle and acts as captain of
the offensive line. Usually blocks the noseguard.
Guards
–
Smaller
and quicker than Tackles, guards usually block linebackers, help the
center double team the noseguard or pull and block the defensive end.
Tackles
–
usually
the largest players on the offensive line, tackles block the defensive
tackles alone or with help from the end. A good tackle must be
aggressive, strong and an excellent blocker.
Ends
-
usually
the smallest and fastest members of the offensive line, ends block
defensive ends, help the tackle on double team blocks or catch
passes.
Quarterback
–
starts
the play, hands the ball off to a back, passes to a receiver or runs
the ball. Calls plays in the huddle and is captain of the backfield.
2 Back
–
Strong
runner and blocker, usually runs the ball on inside plays or lead
blocks for another back.
3 & 4
Backs
–
Usually
the fastest members of the offense. 3 & 4 backs run most of the
outside plays and block for each other with help from the 2 back or a
guard. Should be elusive and quick.
