Here is a brief description of the positions:

Center Snaps the ball to the Quarterback, calls the huddle and acts as captain of the offensive line. Usually blocks the noseguard.

Guards Smaller and quicker than Tackles, guards usually block linebackers, help the center double team the noseguard or pull and block the defensive end.

Tackles usually the largest players on the offensive line, tackles block the defensive tackles alone or with help from the end. A good tackle must be aggressive, strong and an excellent blocker.

Ends - usually the smallest and fastest members of the offensive line, ends block defensive ends, help the tackle on double team blocks or catch passes.

Quarterback starts the play, hands the ball off to a back, passes to a receiver or runs the ball. Calls plays in the huddle and is captain of the backfield.

2 Back Strong runner and blocker, usually runs the ball on inside plays or lead blocks for another back.

3 & 4 Backs Usually the fastest members of the offense. 3 & 4 backs run most of the outside plays and block for each other with help from the 2 back or a guard. Should be elusive and quick.
